Captain. I want you to find me all the wolves of age and military fitness levels in Bleddyn City. Why? You remember your history lessons at the Military Academy? You do also remember Tsarmina and her oppression? Think back to what the squirrels and otters did. Raids and guerrilla tactics. Now, the enemy our outermost fleets are fighting are to well organized for us to take on in head-to-head tactics. The civvies don't know we are at a state of war, but the media won't let that go unknown for much longer. What we need is advanced tech, like what the enemy has. We can field fleets that can hold them back from taking Nunavut, but not for much longer. Thus the wolves. I have proposed to High Command that we set up Special Operations groups that can go behind enemy lines, steal their tech, and make it back alive. Badgers are the aristocrats, and therefore unable to be chosen. Everything else is either to small, or in the case of foxes, to un-loyal. Wolves are perfect for this mission. Males only preferably. Dismissed, Captain.

Convel was sitting on a bus, waiting to get home, when he received a message from his sister, Guadalupe, on his personal comm device. Where are you? I'm worried that you've been mugged. Also, there's a hare from the military here. Hurry up! Typical Guadalupe... Always wondering whether or not I'll be able to keep up the payments for her schooling. Even if I have to kill to do it, she's going to do better than me. Convel was the older brother of a genius, at least in his opinion. He had had to save fifteen paychecks, just to make the entrance payment for her private school, but he had done it, and Convel'd be damned if he let her touch drugs, alcohol, or hang out with the wrong crowd. Their parents had been mid-level teachers at a local public school, but when a pissed off student had decided enough is enough and pulled a gun on the staff, his parents had caught the bullets meant for the Headmaster and other staff. Convel was eighteen, and had dropped out of his school to support his sister. She was eleven, and Convel protected her like a mother wolf with cubs. Working three jobs a day, with only four hours of sleep had taken it's toll on Convel MacTire. Standing a full foot over their father, who had been 6 feet tall, Convel was slightly gray around the eyes, instead of the mid-night black he had been only a season ago. The bus ground to a halt outside the apartment building Convel and Guadalupe lived in. Taking the elevator up to the third floor, he stepped out and went all the way down to the end door. Unlocking it and stepping in, he asked Guadalupe in his voice that had fem wolves all over him:
"Guada, did you do your homework?" She came barreling out of the single bedroom and threw her arms around him, while Convel glared daggers at the military hare.
"I did Con, I did! Guess what I made an A in!"
"What? English?" Her worst subject was English, but that didn't stop her from doing her best in it.
"Yes! And History!" This took Convel by surprise. She was absolutely terrible at English and History.
"Ehem, I hate to interrupt this lovely domestic scene, but... Convel MacTire. Detained by police twice, but nothing was ever proven. Saved up enough cash to put your sister into the best private school in the city, and works three jobs to keep her in it. Parents died when you were seventeen-" The hare was interrupted by Convel, who was growling deep, low and threatening.
"Say anymore in front of my sister and the military'll never get you back, except as many, many tiny pieces. Tell me what you want in a moment. I have to cook and help Guadalupe with her homework." Dragging his sister to her room, Convel locked her in it. Going to the kitchen/ dining room, he set the water running and locked the main door. The military hare watched impassively as Convel closed the blinds and turned towards him.
"You can barely make ends meet. I've read the paper you did to try and get into the Military Academy. 'War is robbery writ large.' Very interesting. When the Commandant turned you away because of your...circumstances and past...deeds, they kept the file on you. We are at war. What we need is good and loyal citizens, like you. What will happen if you don't agree is that you'll be locked up, your sister put into an orphanage, and the funds you've saved up to send her to college seized. If you agree, she'll be able to keep going to school, you'll receive a First Lieutenant's commision, and she'll be placed with a military family that's stationed here, and will remain so while you're in the military." The world seemed to come at Convel very fast, but he kept his hatred of this hare for disturbing their life under wraps. Knowing that he had no choice, but still trying to think of ways out of this, Convel agreed very reluctantly.
"Keep your damned commission. You had to blackmail me to get me to do this. Know that if nothing you said to me happens, someone will die, a slow, painful, long death. All because you blackmailed me." Turning off the water, Convel unlocked the door, opened the blinds, and went to Guadalupe's room. Unlocking her door, he told her to pack.
"Pack. You have to go somewhere else for a while. This hare's going to take you to some friends of mine for a while, then he and I are going to go away for a while. Business. I'll be fine, I assure you." Convel helped her pack her schoolbooks, clothing, and personal effects while the hare watched.
"Why are you going away Con? Does it have to do with the military?" Damn it! She's so smart... I hope a college takes her and she can get by if I die. Shrugging his shoulders, Convel shouldered Guadalupe's stuff and led the procession to the door. Turning out the lights, he locked the door, gave the key to the hare, and started down towards the elevator.

The hare had dropped Convel's sister off, and now they were headed towards the Spaceport.
"You'll be training on a space station. You're now a part of the 92d Company, Special Ops. Welcome aboard, soldier."
